4 Essential Oils for Stress Relief

By January 9, 2019 No Comments

Why are we always stressed out?

Such a good question to ask ourselves at the beginning of a New Year. For quick and easy reduction of stress, opt for some of nature’s remedies, such as essential oils. This is an aromatherapy solution that will help. There are so many ways to incorporate this into your daily life:

1. Diffuse … calm the chaos in your head and uplift your spirit by putting a few drops of calming lavender essential oil into a room diffuser for use throughout the day.

2. Inhale … place a few drops of essential oil on a cotton ball or handkerchief and inhale. Some lovely ones to use are bergamot, lavender, rose, and chamomile.

3. Massage … add 10 to 12 drops of your favourite essential oil to two ounces of carrier oil (sweet almond, jojoba, grapeseed, etc.) for a healing and luxurious full body massage.

4. Bath … add five to 10 drops of relaxing essential oil to your bath water to combat sensations of stress or anxiety.

Aroma Scents Naturals - Stress-relief

Here are four excellent essential oils that will definitely help you to reduce the effects of stress and anxiety:

Lavender Essential Oil

• Lavender is known as the ‘universal oil’ because it’s one of the most useful oils available. The way lavender works is that it triggers brain pathways, which are directly connected to our memories and emotional responses.
• It has been scientifically proven to reduce stress, tension, postpartum depression, and anxiety. A calming scent works wonders on relieving stress and lowering blood pressure. As both an herb and oil, it improves sleep quality and calms the nervous system.

Bergamot Essential Oil

• One of the most potent anti-anxiety essential oils around, bergamot calms the nervous system, lowers blood pressure and quells those restless nights. It’s also been proven to boost happy mood neurotransmitters in the brain, dopamine, and serotonin.
• Bergamot actually comes from the citrus family and has a bright, citrus scent. The oil is derived from its rind. It’s safe for adults, children, and pregnant women. Bergamot can be inhaled or applied topically.

Chamomile Essential Oil

• We all know the calming effect chamomile tea has, and it has the same soothing effects as an essential oil. What most people don’t know however is that there are two types of chamomile essential oils, German and Roman.
• The German type is used for soothing, while the Roman type is used for reducing anxiety and stress. Either way, it’s energizing, calming, and great at reducing stress and boosting your mood.

Aroma Scents Naturals - Rose Essential Oil

Rose Essential Oil

  • One other smell that’s very recognizable is rose. Even though it’s one of the costlier essential oils, it’s still one of the oils that make you feel good about yourself, sends messages to the brain to calm down and relax, and lowers blood pressure. It promotes a sense of peace, tranquility, and calmness.
  • Use diffusion or inhalation to get the uplifting benefits of this essential oil.
  • Rub a drop or two on your wrists or neck for an immediate mood boost.
