Pump Up Your Skin With Pumpkin

By November 14, 2018 No Comments

Did you know that a glowing, orange pumpkin is the source of many benefits? It is great to eat and also a source of many great nutrients for your skin. Pumpkin is bursting with natural alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) and fruit enzymes. These ingredients increase cell turnover, which results in smoother and brighter skin. Pumpkin is also full of antioxidants such as vitamin C and vitamin A, which limit the production of damaging free radicals that age your skin. These antioxidants combat the signs of aging and soften your skin. Collagen production is also boosted and skin appears much smoother.

Autumn is a great time of the year to get your skin prepared for winter’s cold temperatures and drying winds that accelerate the signs of aging. Here are a couple of natural DIY recipes to use this seasonal staple that is packed with anti-aging nutrients that beautify your skin:

Smooth Fine Lines With A Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsp of pumpkin puree
  • 1 Tsp of sugar
  • 1 Tsp of lemon juice

Put the above ingredients in a blender and pulse together until well mixed. Apply an even layer to clean skin. Let this sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.

If you use this mask once a week, you will see positive results in about 4 weeks.

Why this works:

• Pumpkin’s vitamin C and beta-carotene combine together to boost the production of collagen. Wrinkles are less defined and skin tone improves. Your complexion has more texture and elasticity.
• The sugar is a natural exfoliant that helps to give you silky smooth skin.

Get Glowing With A Body Polish

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup of pumpkin puree
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup of brown sugar

Mix the above ingredients together and lightly rub over damp skin for one minute. Rinse off with warm water.
Use this twice a week. You can store the unused portion in the fridge for up to a month.

Why this works:

• The granules in the brown sugar slough off dead skin cells.
• New live cells come to the surface and rejuvenate the skin, giving you healthier skin overall.
