Make Your Own Nail Soak

By May 23, 2018 No Comments

If you want to get beautiful, natural nails that are strong with moisturized cuticles, a nail soak is what you should use. Instead of buying a soak from your local drug store, why not make your own? This is so beneficial for your nails and skin. You can save money and use all natural ingredients. Here are some tips for making your own nail soak:

Choose Your Ingredients

The first step to making your nail soak is to choose the right ingredients. The basis of a nail soak is oil, as it helps to moisturize your nails and cuticles, making your manicure last a lot longer. This can be any oil you want, but olive oil and coconut oil tend to be perfect for this purpose. Olive oil is often used instead because it is already in liquid form and doesn’t need to be melted. Jojoba oil is another type of oil that is good for the skin. The oils are carrier oil for any essential oils you may want to add. You can use some essential oils like lavender, lemon, rose or rosemary.

Consider Adding Natural Items

Aside from the essential oils, you can also add in some other natural ingredients, from steeped tea like green or chamomile tea, to garlic. Just be careful with the garlic because if you have cuts, it can burn your nail skin and cuticles.

Make the Nail Soak

Once you have decided what ingredients you want to use, it is time to make your nail soak. This couldn’t possibly be easier! All you have to do is:

• Combine your oils in an airtight container or bowl with the essential oils.
• Add any other ingredients you are using as well.
• It is best to use a wide-mouth, shallow bowl or container as your fingers and nails will fit inside easily.

Ingredients:

1/2 cup coconut oil, liquified
1/3 cup jojoba oil
1 tablespoon organic honey
1-5 drops of lavender essential oil

This all-over treatment combines the best moisturizing and strengthening ingredients for healthy nails. Jojoba oil is great for brittle or dry nails, as it is super hydrating and naturally aids in absorption. Meanwhile, the lavender oil will act as both a strengthener and whitener. All of your nail needs are covered in one simple soak!

How to Use it

When it is time to use the nail soak, remove the lid and place your nails inside. Soak as many as you can at one time, whether it is all nails on one hand or both hands if there is enough room. Time it and let your nails and cuticles soak for about 15 minutes if possible. You can do this as often as needed, but about once a week or so is usually fine to get the right effects. Try different oil combinations until you find one that works for your needs.
